Kimberlee Garris, Director of Production and Special Events, Broadway Podcast Network
Kimberlee is Director of Production and Special Events for the Broadway Podcast Network, the premier digital storytelling destination for everyone, everywhere who loves theatre and the performing arts. The Broadway Podcast Network presents over 140 audio dramas and theatre podcasts featuring everything from behind-the-curtain access to the creative process, to advice on how to break into the business, to interviews with Broadway’s biggest stars.
Kimberlee co-produced the original Broadway musical The Prom, directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (Mean Girls, The Book of Mormon). The Prom won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and was adapted into a Netflix film starring Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman. Kimberlee is a co-producer of The Prom’s national tour, which launched in November 2021.
Prior to transitioning into theatre, Kimberlee worked as a consultant in sports marketing and entertainment after spending a decade as Director of Entertainment Marketing for the NBA’s New Jersey and then Brooklyn Nets. In this role, Kimberlee rebranded Nets’ entertainment for the Brooklyn market and created all of the team’s in-game entertainment assets, including the Brooklynettes and Brooklyn Nets Kids dance teams. She directed and produced hundreds of performances and events at Barclays Center and created entertainment content for the NBA in fourteen countries around the world.
During her time with the Nets, Kimberlee directed the NBA’s first hip hop dance team composed entirely of dancers over age sixty – the NETSational Seniors. Their journey to center court stardom was captured in the documentary film Gotta Dance, directed and produced by Tony and Emmy Award winner Dori Berinstein. The film inspired the musical Half Time, directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde).
Kimberlee graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in psychology and a concentration in cognitive neuroscience. Her passion for travel and adventure has taken her to forty-three countries on six continents, including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro and trekking to Annapurna Base Camp.
