Thursday, December 31th - Melissa Vargas, Founder, Sweet Creations by Melissa

Melissa has a background in graphic design, event management, and project management. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and will be graduating in august 2021 with a Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She worked for an entertainment company from June 2014 until she was furloughed in April 2020 then laid off in Fall 2020. While being furloughed, she decided to learn some recipes from the Chrissy Teigan cookbooks only to realize there were not dessert recipes. As a dessert lover, she decided to learn how to make a dessert that would take up her time while she got called back. Macarons are known to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest, dessert to learn so she knew it would keep her occupied during furlough. Little did she know that she would pick up on them much quicker than expected and before long, friends were asking to place orders. Sweet Creations by Melissa was born after a close friend hired her to make 150 macarons for a bridal shower. From there, the orders continued coming in and the business continues to grow!

Make sure to take a lunch break and join us!
